A classroom that started with one teacher who would not lower the bar.

GLS Academy grew from a small online tutoring initiative into a structured academy that serves families in the UK, Nigeria, Canada, the US, Australia, the UAE, Finland, Jamaica, and Germany. Two pillars carry all of it: help children learn better, and help teachers teach better.

Mr George O. Agbede
FOUNDER AND LEAD TUTOR

An experienced educator, online tutor, mentor, and education entrepreneur. He founded the academy to make excellent teaching available to children beyond the walls of the traditional classroom.

The start

One tutor, a handful of families, and live lessons that treated each child as a person, not a timetable slot. Word spread the way it always does with good teaching: parent to parent.

The growth

Individual sessions became an organised academic system: qualified tutors, academic monitoring, parent communication, progress reporting, and structured learning plans across 7+ countries.

Teacher training

As the academy grew, it needed tutors trained to teach online. It started a teacher development programme with mentorship, training, practice lessons and ongoing support. Some trainees now hold Microsoft and Google certifications, and some have joined the GLS tutoring team.

Today

Over 150 active tutors teach English, Mathematics, Science, Phonics, 11 Plus, SATs, GCSE, Cambridge Checkpoint, and other curriculum-based programmes. The academy is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Mission

Provide high-quality, structured, personal online tutoring that helps learners improve, build confidence, and make measurable progress. Empower teachers through training, mentorship, and professional development.

How a lesson runs.

The standard GLS class is 60 minutes. Each session follows the same structure, whether it is phonics or GCSE Maths.

Teacher training

Growth exposed a gap: online education needs well-trained tutors, not just willing ones. So the academy built a teacher development arm: mentorship, training, micro-teaching, and professional support. Many trainees now hold Microsoft and Google certifications.
