Phonics, English, Mathematics and Number awareness · seven years teaching

Many children between the ages of 5–8 around the world struggle with foundational Math and English skills. Whether in school or homeschooling settings, these gaps often manifest as difficulty in reading fluently, understanding number concepts, or expressing themselves confidently. This challenge not only affects their academic growth but also impacts their confidence, emotional well-being, and ability to connect with peers and caregivers. The pressure on parents, schools, and caregivers to "fix" these gaps can be overwhelming. Teachers are often stretched thin, and caregivers may not know the best approach to support their child. Traditional teaching methods may miss the mark, especially for children who need a more hands-on, individualized approach. Left unaddressed, these early struggles can create long-term learning difficulties and social challenges. Abimbola Taiwo is a certified Montessori Directress (0–6 years, MACTE Certified), Early Childhood Educator, and TEFL Certified Online Tutor, specialized in nurturing children the right way—meeting them where they are, not where a curriculum says they should be. With a robust experience in the Montessori environment supporting learners globally, I integrate the Montessori philosophy with the UK and US Early Years and Primary Curriculum to offer personalized, effective learning experiences in Phonics, Math and English. I work with children aged 5–8, helping them move from sounds to words, and from number confusion to numerical confidence. Through my online sessions at GLS, I provide children with clarity, caregivers with peace of mind, and schools with tangible results.

How I teach

I am a child-centred, Montessori-inspired, and interactive educator who makes learning fun, practical, and meaningful for young learners. I use phonics, songs, storytelling, games, visual aids, and hands-on activities to develop children's literacy, numeracy, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

As an online tutor at GLS I integrate educational technology and interactive platforms to engage learners, build their confidence, and support individual learning needs. My teaching is play-based, engaging, structured, and focused on helping every child learn at their own pace.
